Some of our most popular Scottish campsites include Milarrochy Bay, Glencoe, Loch Ness Shores and Scone. These are particularly fine if you’re planning a winter break: several of our Scotland campsites are open all year. Our guide to Skye includes our top 10 walks each with a full description and photo slideshow offering a step by step account of what to expect.

So you're excited for your first wild camping trip in Scotland, you've got all the gear and thanks to this blog post, a bit of an idea. Wild camping in Scotland should only be done in small numbers and you should not spend more than 2 or 3 nights in one place. GPS and OS grid At the bottom of each entry clear directions are given as well as GPS coordinates taken at the holiday park entrance. Most of our campsites in Scotland allow dogs and have facilities to cater to your four-legged friend. As part of Scotland's access legislation, the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, you have a right of responsible access to most land and inland water and are allowed to camp on most unenclosed land.

Shortbread, Cranachan and Scottish tablet are among the traditional sweet treats to try throughout your stay. At the very heart of Scotland in the Tay Forest Park, Kilvrecht Campsite is wonderfully situated on the southern shores of Loch Rannoch.

And of course all this outdoor lifestyle is pure heaven for four-legged pals so there’s plenty of choice when it comes to dog-friendly camping in Scotland . Personally, one of the best campsites I've come across recently is Seaview Camping Park in Benderloch. Scotland is a heaven for whisky lovers and tours are available of many of the distilleries around the country where you can learn about the manufacturing processes and sample some of the world's finest tipples. The UK’s only giant pandas are housed at the zoo which is part of RZSS, one of Scotland’s conservation charities. With only 2 poles to put in place, we had our tent set up in no time and could settle down for our dinner and a good night's sleep.

Add to these thousands of miles of coastline and the possibilities for outdoor pursuits seem limitless.Needless to say their tents have been thoroughly tested in the Scottish outdoors and around the world so I have confidence in their products. These directions should be suitable for all vehicles and are written in clear, easy to understand language with signs and landmarks noted. Highlights include sea eagles and whales from the Isle of Mull, ospreys around Loch Garten, puffins on the Isle of May and bottle nosed dolphins in the Moray Firth.

Scotland really is one of the best countries in the world to go camping so make the most of the picturesque scenery and arrange your own outdoors adventure! Also don't forget to include a treat for yourself to enjoy in your tent at the end of the day - hot chocolate or a whisky liqueur are my personal vices!

There are plenty of cycling and walking trails varying in difficulty with some suitable for the whole family.
